Break in Upper Corsica
Joys galore, from the seaside to the mountains
Whatever your length and type of stay with us at our hotel in Corsica by the sea, you’ll no doubt convince yourself that your break is too short. Too short to see in one go, as Corsica is at once unified and varied.
Too short to visit Bastia, where the tourist office offers, among other things, a tour of the town highlighting hidden gems, from the Place Saint Nicolas to some of the most remarkable churches, from one district to another, as well as providing a brilliant portrait of the local people who wander the shaded streets of the old town.
Too short to visit the Cap Corse and its fishing villages, each one rich with singular charm, cutting across the coast on both sides of the district of La Serra. Too short to visit the Désert des Agriates, a vast preserved nature area, or the maquis bushland that makes up the beautiful green backdrop to the two dazzling beaches of the Plage de Saleccia and the Plage du Lotu.
Too short to visit the Gulf of Porto, whose importance is highlighted by its UNESCO World Heritage Site status.
Too short to visit Ajaccio, the Imperial “coral city” and birthplace of the Napoleon dynasty, who are honoured in many ways here. Too short to visit the Vallée de la Restonica, whose cool, clear water bring as much joy to locals as they do to tourists.
Too short to visit Bonifacio, whose pleasure port is a spectacle in itself, so close to the often tumultuous waters of its strait, overlooked by the medieval citadel standing proudly on its cliff, all just a cable length away from the uninhabited islands of the Archipelago of Lavezzi. Indeed, too short to visit this small yet bountiful island - all the better to come back again and again!
